We Bought a Bus Conversion
(St Louis, Mo.)
My husband always dreamed of owning one of these. After looking at numerous motor homes that had leaks or former leaks, we began our search for a bus conversion.
We traveled a bit to look at some, and bought one nearby where we live.
We were told it was road worthy, but just needed some finishing on the inside. Basically the inside just needs to be cleaned a bit and the wood needs stained.
The outside needs a mirror put back on and the windshields will need to be replaced, as well as one tire.
I was following my husband, who was in the bus, ( a 1977 MCI8), and the guy we bought it from was tagging along to see we made it home OK because of the mirror. When my husband had to pull off of the interstate about 2 miles down the road. The bus had lost power. The guy we bought it from was trying to help, and he and my hubby decided it was an electrical problem, maybe an alternator. We have special towing for the bus, so we used it. We are having a professional mechanic work on it this week to get it right so we can finally get ready to leave.
The interior of the bus is great! It looks like a regular motor home on the inside. A folding couch and two swivel rockers, a table with 2 chairs, a sink and cabinets with a 4 burner gas stove, microwave, built in fridge. Bathroom has a very nice walking shower and stool and sink on the other side of the hall. A really nice master bedroom. Somehow I will feel safer in this, when we get it running. :)
It is getting colder here and my arthritis and other ailments are really acting up, and I will be so glad to get to Florida. We sold our cars and truck, which was a big job to get finished. We will be towing the car we kept. My niece will be renting our house, which is a nice surprise, It will make that job go quicker.
After trying to get on the road since May,lol, I think we may just be able to leave by next month, Lord willing.
This has already been and adventure, and we haven't even gotten started on the road yet. :)
God Bless, until next time.
