Vail Lake RV Resort

If you plan to go RVing in California you may want to consider Vail Lake RV Resort. It sits on 11,000 private acres and is bordered by another 250,000 acres of national forest and wildlife, with the highway is within seven miles.

Vail Lake RV Resort is located in Temecula, California about 70 miles from San Diego and an hour and a half from Los Angeles. It is in the midst of Southern California’s wine country. Situated on a lake filled with large mouth bass it offers a view of tree-covered mountains.

The Village

Uncommon for an RV resort, Vail Lake houses a restaurant, as well as an onsite snack bar and a gift shop. If you really don’t want to leave and mingle with the locals you can buy more camping supplies at the resort’s store, The Village, as well as many other conveniences. Camp headquarters are also located here as well as several picnic areas.

A variety of activities may occupy your time at Vail Lake RV Resort.

Pool Side

Lie in the sun or take a dip in the pool. Have children? Not a problem. Vail Lake has a kiddy pool and a family pool. If you prefer to do more than just swim you can take a trip down the water slide. Once you’re done cooling off you may want to head over to the stables.

Horseback Riding

As long as you have sneakers, jeans, and are above the age of seven you can go horseback riding. The rides are two hours on the weekdays and an hour on weekends. All riders must be accompanied by a guide. The guide will take the group along one of the trails that have been created throughout Vail Lakes property.

Remote Control Racing

Vail Lake has a pro shop and racetrack. The track is open on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday in the afternoon to the early evening. Times vary by day so check the resort’s website for current information. Friday is practice day and you must call to find out the time. Races are held on Saturdays and again you must call for details.

In addition to these activities, the resort also has fishing, miniature golf, mountain biking, and ongoing events. The events change throughout the year and are posted on the website.

Vail Lake RV Resort has five different hookup sites, where pop-up campers and solo tents are not allowed to set up. All RV sites have water and sewage. The sites are:

  • Arroyo Seco: 30 amp hook up and no seating
  • Oaks: 30 or 50 amp hookup; may or may not have seating and a fire pit
  • Merlot Mesa: 30 amp hookup, fire pits, but no seating
  • Chardonnay Mesa: 30 amp; recommended for groups and older adults
  • Lower Arroyo Seco: no electric and no seating; quiet and secluded

Winter and summer rates are the same. Monday thru Thursday the fee is $50 a night for all of the sites except the Oaks. This site is $55 daily. Friday to Sunday the price is $65 a night with the Oaks being the only exception at $70 a night. Group rates are available. Of course, these prices are subject to change without notice, so when you call for reservations, make sure to verify the price.
