This is fun - we should do it all the time!

The Good Life!
In 2001, we had been retired for a little over a year and were on our first trip in our 1985 21 ft Itasca, heading across Utah toward Colorado when my husband made that fateful statement...He was shocked when I replied that I had been thinking about it and agreed.
We continued with our trip across the country to visit an old friend in Missouri, visit the places where our parents grew up in Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. We stopped in Missouri and upgraded to a 1994 34 ft Winnebago Itasca with one slide out. It felt huge!!!
Returning to San Diego, we told our grown children of our plans and began preparations to rent our home - we weren't ready to burn our bridges until we were sure we would like the lifestyle as well as we thought about.
In April 2003 we put our belongings including furniture into storage, leased our home for 1 year and headed to South Dakota to become South Dakota residents. Stopping in Wichita Falls, TX to attend a rally, we found our dream RV and bought it on the spot. You can tell we are impulsive people!!
By late 2002 we decided we loved the lifestyle and weren't sure what we had in storage. The kids took most of our furniture, a lot went to Good Will and Navy Relief Society, and some was sold. At the end we went from 3 overseas storage containers to 1 5' X 10' area in a storage facility.
By the spring of 2003 we decided it was time to sell the house and our renters were interested so by April we were free as birds!
It is now 2012 and we are still going strong and can't imagine any other lifestyle. To date we have visited 46 of the 48 lower States, Alaska and 8 Canadian provinces.
We now spend our winters at an Escapee Co-Op RV Resort in Southern California and travel during the summer.
