Sulfur Smell In Water or Drain

Sulfur Smell In Water or Drain

We have a sulfur smell coming up from the drains or out of the faucet, it's hard to tell. What could be causing this?

Sulfur Smell Coming from Faucet or Drains

We had a sulfur smell in our water/drains, after putting a cup & 1/2 of clorox in our fresh water tank when we filled it, the smell went away after running the water for a few minutes.

Change the anode rod if its a tank type water heater. You could have picked up iron bacteria if you filled from a private well with that problem. If so drain tank and treat with 1/2 cup chloral to the tank and then fill it.

Thanks Happy Harold for your suggestion. We haven't used our hot water heater since last winter. Could the smell still be coming from there?

It is (in my opinion)...from the water heater. House water heaters have a "anode" rod to eliminate this problem and I assume RV's do too. Once they get completely covered, they don't do their job. Check with a plumber or the RV place that you work with.

Just my thoughts...
