Living the Good Life!

Living the Good Life!

When my youngest left home last summer, so did I. As a city kid, my love for camping began in Boy Scouts. The army seemed a continuation of "camping" (other than getting shot at, lol). I continued camping with friends and then eventually my kids. I did back packing, hiking around the country with topographical maps, camping in pup tents with nothing more than could be carried on our backs. Renting RV's a few times with the kids seemed like real luxury. Well, I sold my home and bought my first rig last summer. No way for the kids to move back! It's been almost a year of full-timing and it's even better than I thought it would be. I've met lots of great folks and explored more of the country I love.

I typically drive a few hundred miles and stick around the area for ten days to two weeks. I try to stay with one of the four groups I've joined (Loners on Wheels, Escapees, Good Sam, and SMART). I enjoy the group get togethers and enjoy exploring the areas. I do the usual museums & historic sites. I also enjoy local concerts & plays, and I love to hike state and national parks. I've already been to all 50 states and all ten provinces of Canada. Over the next few years I'm planning to add Canada's three territories along with Alaska & Hawaii (I'll either need a really big snorkel or probably fly and rent an RV).

Life is Great! Travel safe & Have Fun.

You lucky man!

Ah, you lucky man. I have had many tastes of that vagabond life, but missed not having a place to come home to, even though I had the RV. There comes a time when you have to find a place to call home. In the meantime, enjoy your life, and do be careful out there!

You Are Living My Future NOW!
by: Cowgirl Kathi

Hello Steve. Thank you for posting this tale of your traverls. In fact, you are living my future right now and it is encouraging to hear that you are totally enjoying youself, making new friends and seeing all the places on your bucket list. Just as soon as I get a buyer for this little 7 acre farm I own, I'm planning to do the very same thing!

LOVED your comment on RVing to Hawaii -- you'd need more than a big snorkel, buddy -- but there MIGHT BE A FERRY or a FREIGHTER that could transport you from the mainland to the big island!

Continued good blessings to you and post again sometime. Pictures would also be great so we can see you and your house on wheels in different locations. It gives us "can't wait to be's" something more to look forward to!
