I have a smart energy management System Model 900 and a Xantrex 458 inverter/charger. All battery charges are handled by this, except equalizing the batteries. The literature says this must be done manually using the freedom remote control panel or a Link instrument. Totally lost. Any thoughts? Is the EMS a freedom remote or a link instrument, and if so, how do I access a manual function? Believe me, I've tried. Arrgh.
I purchased a 1992 Carriage Fifth Wheel and I am having trouble keeping the Camper battery charged. The battery runs the water pump and some lights. When I have the fifth wheel plugged into a power source, the battery does not charge, so when I use the water pump, etc., it wears down the battery.
I also don't know how the inverter is supposed to work, since it doesn't seem to power anything when it's on. The pump runs fine when it's off. I've been charging my battery unhooked from the camper to try and keep it charged up, but the camper should be charging it up. My other camper charged my battery with no problem.
I took a voltage reading and the voltage output coming from the battery leads that hookup to the battery is about 14.3, but for some reason it is not going into the battery. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
We just bought a 2006 R-vision trail-lite 21 ft motorhome last Fall. When we go out (we usually boondock) our coach battery drains very quickly. We have had travel trailers in the past and when we were driving it would charge the coach battery, but on the motorhome this does not seem to happen. Does anyone have any suggestions? We have an on board generator but have forgotten to run it (each day) and the battery gets so low that we can not even turn the generator over. Any help would be appreciated.
