Ready to Make a Change

Ready to Make a Change

I am married and have 3 boys, ages 9,16 & 19. We own a somewhat large home with a huge yard (almost an acre) My husband works full time and has for years. I am a teacher and have always subbed or worked part time. I am having a difficult time getting a full time teaching position. We have acquired debt over the years and with the housing market being so down, and prices on food/gas being so high, we are really struggling. I have found a very nice, safe, small RV campground and am seriously thinking of finding a way to live in an RV full time. My husband is 50 and I am pushing 50. I see it as a way to simplify our lives and to actually be able to enjoy our lives more fully than we could ever do staying on the path we are on. IF we can sell our current home and donate/sell most of our belongings (except what we really need to live on) we should be able to pay off all of our current debt. Living in an RV , our living expenses would be cut in half. We will both continue to work and save money. My oldest son should be done with college in 4 years or less (getting an associate's degree) My middle son will be out of high school in two years. There are more details, but just wondered if it sounds too crazy or not. I see it as a way to simplify our lives, give us more time to enjoy the important things in life, and to drastically reduce stress in our lives. Taking care of a big house (laundry, cleaning, maintaining) takes up most of our time and money. Also, see it as a way to be able to eventually travel more (not necessarily in the trailer) Thinking of a Park Model......has anyone out there done this or know someone who has done this? Most of the stories I find are ones of retired couples who travel in their RV. Thanks :)
