Medicare Supplemental Insurance Info

My husband and I are both on medicare and just sold our house and are going to join the full time RV'er, but the supplement medical ins. we have, we have to be living in this area. I know there has to be a bunch of you out there. How do we do this? What insurance can we get?

Which Medicare Supplement?

We chose Mutual of Omaha Plan F for our Medicare Supplement. That coverage works all over the USA. It may even work south and north of our borders.

Right now we are nearing the end of the Medicare open enrollment period. So, you could switch to M of O easily.

Good luck on your new adventure. Also good luck on getting help with the Medicare supplement situation.

I just went on Medicare this summer, however trying to find supplemental insurance has been a real adventure. This has been the biggest issue for us upon my husband taking early retirement.

I am 61, legal residence is in FLA & on Social Security Disability. All Supplements in FLA are for people over 65, I cannot go onto an Advantage Plan because of the reason you state-they are county specific. My husbands insurance was active until yesterday, Aug 31. So now I don't have a back up plan, nothing for meds, dental, vision.

To date the only thing I have found that qualifies is another type policy through BCBS, however being only 61 it would cost me $500 a month. Now if I were 65+ the cost would be $150 a month, go figure.

Last week I queried my Union Retiree Benefits. Good plan, cost is right, however Medicare might not accept it because it's not considered a 'Supplemental Plan'....another 'go figure'.

So right now I am 'flying by the seat of my pants' and pray my health will not get any worse.

We are traveling for 6 months this year and enjoying it immensely. Plan is for 9 months next year, sure hope we can sell our house next year also, then we will be full timers.
