Is it difficult to find spaces for a 40 footer?

Now that we are shopping for a motorhome we are being told by non-RV'ers that we won't be able to find many parks that can accommodate a 40 footer.

Pulling 20' Enc Trailer W 40' motorhome
by: Mike

We will be full timing this fall . We have a 40' Motorhome and a 20' enclosed trailer for our vehicle. Has anyone had experience or trouble finding a place to camp with a combination like this?

40 Footers
by: Linda H

We've been on the road since end of June. We have a 38 foot Class A and we haven't had any issues. We've stayed at city parks, Corps of Engineer Parks, and other parks along the way. I think most parks today accommodate our large rigs. However, I would never assume that to be true at all places, so please do call ahead or look on the web to be 100% sure.

What I have decided to do.
by: kim

I am pretty sure I will be getting a Coachmen Freelander 32BH. I plan to use the top bunk for extra storage since I will be full timing it alone with a few pets. It is my solution for those extra items. And all I have to do is pull the curtain.

Is it difficult to find spaces for a 40 footer?

No, the RV parks have really been accommodating large rigs, and you can always call a park that you are planning on stopping for the night or two or three and ask them. We have never had a problem and we take "across the United States trips". We were the Wagon Masters for the trip from Las Vegas, to Yellowstone, to Mt. Rushmore, St Louis Arch, we called ahead to RV parks along the way where we would stop for the night or stay for 2 to 3 days and give them the length of all of the coaches that were in the caravan. Our coaches range from 38' to 42' long. No problems. Enjoy your 40 footer. As one RV salesman said to us when we upgraded to a longer coach, "You never can get too big". (smiles)

40 footer?
by: Mary

Well, I'll tell you, we have a 38" with a toad and we haven't been turned away yet. Most of the time we get a pull through and are able to keep the tow dolly attached and have room to park the car to boot. Of course sometimes we have to back into our site and then the dolly has to be detached. Now, if your staying in State Parks or National Parks campgrounds you may have a hard time finding room for a large RV but most of the campgrounds we stayed in and there have been many can accommodate a 40 foot rig.

I've be driving a 37.5 ft motorhome and have never found it a problem, I don't believe you will either. Go for it.
