"House" battery re-connect

"House" battery re-connect

I recently bought new batteries for my diesel pusher and went to re-install them and upon re-connecting forgot how the cables go...(house batteries) not the coach batteries.

Give your dealer or manufacturer a phone call and determine how the house batteries were originally hooked up. No guarantee they were that way when you disconnected, but it's a start.

If you can't or won't go that route, get your multimeter out and check the battery voltage. Six volts per battery, they were hooked up in banks of two or four, depending on the DC voltage of your coach. Don't know the house voltage -- use you meter to find out at a DC Light. If the rig won't work without batteries hooked up, locate the converter (DC to AC) and read the spec plate. To provide 12 volts, connect a positive to the negative post of a second battery and take and connect the red wire to the positive post on one battery and the black wire to the negative post on the second battery. Need 24 volts DC jumper four six volt or two twelve volt batteries together to supply the correct voltage. Don't understand what I am telling you, call the mobile RV repair service. The cost should serve as a constant reminder to take photos before you take things apart.

In any case, good luck and be careful. Those batteries can provide a lot of amps (power) and if hooked up wrong can damage things instantly, possibly resulting in a Fire and costing you your rig, if you are unlucky.
