I worked for the same company for 20 years, then got laid off. We struggled to make the house note for the next two or three years. I finally told my husband that if either one of us got sick for a few days and missed work, we would lose the house. We decided to sell it, and bought a travel trailer with the profit from the house.
The first night we slept in that trailer, was the first time in three years that I slept good and didn't worry about losing my home.
We have workamped and traveled from Georgia, Florida, Texas, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Arizona. We have worked at privately owned campgrounds and resorts; volunteered at state parks, and now work for the National Park Service in temporary seasonal jobs. We love our life, and along with having less "stuff", we have way less stress. We have fun every day.
