We visited the Lane county bridges on our anniversay. It was like stepping back in time with some of them. Some of the bridges can still be driven on while others have been by-passed with new roads to preserve them.
Lane county Oregon has over 20 covered bridges which is more covered bridges than any other county West of the Mississippi!
This photo is the Lowell Bridge. It was built in 1945 and spans 165 feet. The stream is Middle Fork of the Willamette River.
Directions to the bridge: From Lowell, take Pioneer Street (Jasper-Lowell Rd.) south 1/2 mile to the Lowell Covered Bridge Interpretive Center adjacent to Highway 58.
While living in Portland we also visited the Japanese Garden. It's nestled in the scenic west hills of Portland, and has been proclaimed one the most authentic Japanese gardens outside of Japan.
We saw a ton of amazing things in Oregon and absolutely love it there. Canon Beach was really amazing. There is a story about our RV Trip on the RV Travel page with some photos also. We stayed at the Canon Beach RV Resort which was really nice. They have a cookout and feed all of the guests hot dogs and hamburgers every Saturday.
We left Portland Oregon in November of 2008; traveling in our full time RV we moved on to Houston Texas.
